Every once in a while you chance upon someone with a real vision in business.

Last week I was lucky enough to meet with the directors of Lighthouse Mobility International and speak to them.

They have been working for many years in the provisioning of personal respite care for the elderly, infirm, disabled and convalescent. These are people who can not look after themselves, finding that the simplest of actions can be difficult for them.

Churchill said that "you measure the degree of civilisation of a society by how it treats its weakest members"; and, indeed, it is a great pity that affordable mobility products are not available for those who need them at far prices.

Of course in the most extreme of circumstances we have people who are unable to walk - we, the public are aware of this as we see mobility scooters and walkers often in our streets and shops. However we are not so aware of the many thousands of people who have problems with the day to day tasks of bathing, feeding or just getting changed. Lighthouse care, with its long history of delivering on site respite care to these very people are not only aware of this issue but wish to do something to alleviate the distress endured by so many.

Lighthouse have also noticed that many of the mobility products available for the aid of people in the areas of mobility, dressing, bathing, eating are sold at extremely high prices. With this in mind Lighthouse have put together a portfolio of mobility aids and disability products at the lowest prices they could manage.

"your independence is our success"

is the motto of the company whose website Lighthouse Mobility international sells Mobility Aids at vastly reduced prices.

Moreover, the company is committed to donating a portion of every sale to help support the charities Help the Heros (to aid British troops returning from abroad) and the Sussex Air Ambulance (a privately funded air ambulance service in the South of England).

It has been a pleasure seeing this vision come to fruition and realising myself that there are many people struggling with basic tasks who deserve the facility to tools and products which can make their lives easier.
